  1. 3 Accomplishments

    1. I COMPLETED THE PROGRAM! After 8 long and busy weeks, the other interns and I completed the Mapping Freedom REU this Friday. Despite our workload, I feel like these 8 weeks flew by incredibly quickly, but I had just enough time to get comfortable and enjoy myself in Hattiesburg outside the working hours.

    2. I DID MY PRESENTATION! This was the most fulfilling part. I presented my work with the most proficiency I could, and I am incredibly proud of everyone else for doing the same.

    3. I COMPLETED MY PAPER! In many ways, this paper was among the most serious works I have ever produced, and I am so excited for the publishing process that awaits in the coming months. I really think this work can be a meaningful catalyst for more research into Civil War and Reconstruction homelessness in the future.

  2. 3 Obstacles

    1. I had to re-do all of my maps...it was incredibly tedious to fix this, but they are all clean and ready to go!

    2. For some odd reason, uploading my maps to this website took several hours. I had layer CRS and projection problems hiding in my maps that I did not notice until I started publishing them.

    3. I began to feel the toll of the number of hours I was doing especially towards the end, so I had to take a lot of breaks which slowed my work ever so slightly.

  3. 3 Things Learned

    1. I learned how to take constructive criticism from an educated audience in preparation for my presentation.

    2. I learned how to condense all my work into 10 minutes and deliver my content successfully.

    3. I learned how to slow down and really breathe in my public speaking. I can get excited, so this is key!

  4. Project Updates: What's Next?

    1. There is nothing else but publishing my paper!
