  1. 3 Accomplishments

    1. I figured out the final issue with my map! I had kept wanting to change the symbology to "Graduated" and give the counties a certain shade depending on a number value, but I had kept incorrectly "counting points in polygon."

    2. We played around with Gephi. This is my very first "map," but it will be helpful to visualize my data over time

My first Gephi data graph using the metadata from CWRGM; this specific portion has so many overlapping lines (due to nearly 40000 data points) they are unreadable. However, the biggest dot in the middle of the image reads "Mississippi. Governor" which is the most used subject tag and thus the tag that has the most lines or connections. The other labels are too small to be readable.

    1. We created 3D models on Tinkercad. This is a desk from my "studio apartment."

  1. 3 Obstacles

    1. I was originally going to use this as an accomplishment. I ended a relationship on Wednesday, and it has been incredibly difficult to bear through lectures and work without breaking down. I hope it gets better soon.

    2. This week, with the absence of a framework for how to write the results, I couldn't get a draft in. I hope to do so next week.

    3. Finally, I kept finding thematic issues with my original ten letters, so I removed a few, which shortened my data set.

  2. 3 Things Learned

    1. I learned the difference between LiDAR and photogrammetry, specifically in their practical applications (mapping 3D objects versus putting 3D objects together, maybe to create a map as well).

    2. I learned that I could use Gephi to map language changes over time, though I am still getting familiar with that program itself.

    3. Finally, on Friday, I learned the names of some incredibly important Mississippians, including Vernon Dahmes, and their roles in the Long Civil Rights movement.

  3. Project Updates: What's Next?

    1. Create results.

    2. Begin PPT presentation.
